A Gaited Horse Drill Team |
New Year -
New Face

|
The
ladies of Texas Star Gaits are a very committed bunch, I'm proud to say.
We spent the first part of 2009 doing exhibitions and finding a lot about
our selves, our horses and just how much work we were in for. Not a
problem! No, we're not perfect, but Oh, did we come a long way since
we started. The Drill is no place for sissies and there are none here. Lots of practice, travel, expense and tons of grooming to keep our horses in top condition. I don't know of any of my drill sisters who would complain about any of it. We "LOVE" what we do and we "LOVE" our Horses! Our hard work did pay off as we managed to accomplish the title of USEDA Senior Quad Champions and placed in the Free Style and Theme Drills at SuperRide. November was our last competition of 2009 at the Women and Horses Expo in Guthrie, OK and we once again won the Quad and took a Second in the Free Style and Theme Drills. So I'd say we had a pretty good year considering that we have some novice members and 90% of our horses are novice as well. We also ride a variety of Gaited Breeds and let me tell you that's work getting them to gait together. We presently have Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox Trotters and Spotted Saddle Horses. And I am proud to say that they are all very well behaved.

2010
looks like it's going to be a busy year for us. We are going to be putting a Drill Clinic with one of the best instructors and judge, Barbara Knudson. We will be announcing a date shortly. This is the Clinic that got rained out in October 2009. We have some new (soon to be announced) sponsors coming on board in 2010. The Texas Star Gaits will be doing more exhibitions and plan on attending several competitions as well. We are about more than just Drilling. We have a wonderful sisterhood and enjoy each other's company as we go on fun trips, trail rides and educate ourselves about how to be better horsewomen. We also do Parades, Fund Raisers and Goodwill events. Trail riding helps keep our horses fresh. We are always looking to expand our team and if you are interested in joining and would like to check us out please feel free to contact us. If one is to be successful at this, it must first and foremost be fun. Through all the dirt, sweat and hard work there is the reward of horse slobber and a very happy and loving equine who idolizes you. Stay in touch and we hope to see you down the road! GAIT-ON....
